Keep Full Maternity Services in Maidstone
Peter Carroll, Parliamentary Campaigner for Maidstone and the Weald, has launched a massive campaign with local Lib Dem campaigners to stop the downgrading of Maternity Services at Maidstone Hospital.
The campaign was launched after recent confirmation from local health bosses that Maidstone maternity will be downgraded to a midwife-led facility with the full consultant-led facility only being available at Pembury.

The campaign to Keep Full Maternity at Maidstone Hospital has received a welcome and unexpected boost. Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Maidstone, Peter Carroll, has met with the Secretary of State for Health, the Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP. An unscheduled meeting took place outside the Department of Health in Whitehall when Peter was handing in letters from over 3,000 local people opposing the downgrade.

Lib Dem campaigner Peter Carroll has slammed the City and 'Big Banks' for the return of Bonus culture. Peter is reacting to news that Barclays today announced over £11 Billion in profits and will pay enormous bonuses. Peter believes that paying bonuses to bankers in this climate is 'Bank Robbery'.

Maidstone Maternity Campaigner Peter Carroll will be back in Whitehall on Tuesday 23rd February to fight against the downgrading of Maternity services in the County Town. Peter will be standing outside the Department of Health at 11.00am with over 3,000 letters from local people all asking for the Secretary of State to intervene and stop the downgrade. Many of the letters will be stuck to a 100ft long banner. This visit to Whitehall follows on from Peter handing in an enormous petition to 10 Downing Street a few weeks ago.

Peter Carroll, the Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Maidstone & The Weald has welcomed the long awaited report from the KCC working group set up to investigate the downgrading of Maidstone Maternity. The report recommends that Kent County Council ask the Secretary of State for Health to 'call in' and review the decision.
